What is Plasma Television?
A plasma display panel (PDP) is a type of flat panel display common to large TV displays (42" inches or larger). Many tiny cells (pixels) between two panels of glass hold an inert mixture of noble gases. The gas in the cells is electrically turned into a plasma which then excites phosphors to emit light at different frequencies. Plasma TVs have excellent color accuracy and black level reproduction and a faster refresh rate (up to 600 Hz), for great motion processing, than any other technology. Plasma TVs do not use Mercury while LCD TVs do in their CCFL backlight. The pictures of Plasma TVs are produced by the lighting of fluorescent colors. In plasma TVs, each pixel contains red, green, and blue elements, which work in conjunction to create 16 other colors.
