Preamplifiers

A sound processor precedes another amplifier to prepare an electronic signal for further amplification. The preamplifier circuitry may be found in a, A/V receiver or as a separate component. The function of a sound processor is to amplify a low-level signal to line-level while providing voltage gain. These are often found in combination with an Audio or Audio/Video controller, which contains the hardware and software for formatting the analog or digital information (audio and/or video) for proper playback.
