5.1 channels — Fear decimals no longer
It's time to put your grade-school fraction- and decimal-related trauma to rest. Your new RX-V Series RX-V365 receiver from Yamaha features "5.1" channels of audio output for a true surround-sound experience right in your home. The "5" in "5.1" refers to the five main audio channels — center channel for dialogue, right- and left-front and right- and left-rear channels for enveloping audio effects. The ".1" refers to the non-powered LFE or Low Frequency Effects channel which provides audio content to your subwoofer for deep, rumbling bass performance. Delivering 100W of power to each channel — for a grand total of 500W of output power — your RX-V365 is equipped to surround you with your favorite music or movie soundtrack.
Decoding the home audio experience
True home-theater surround sound has its foundation in audio decoding formats. Do the names Dolby Digital and dts ring a bell? Your new RX-V365 receiver comes equipped with processing decoding formats from these two giants in the field, helping to complete your home surround-sound experience. Dolby Digital Pro Logic II is a multi-channel playback format developed using feedback logic-steering technology and offering improvements over conventional Pro Logic circuits. It can be used to decode not only sources recorded in Dolby Surround, but also regular stereo sources into five channels — front left, front right, center, surround left, and surround right — to achieve surround sound. Often simply referred to as "dts", dts Digital Surround is a multi-channel digital signal format. A 5.1-channel surround-sound format, Digital Surround is available in movie theaters as well as on DVD-Video movies for home theater viewing. The primary advantage of Digital Surround is that it offers higher data rates, leading many home theater enthusiasts to claim the sound quality for movie or music audio tracks to be closer to the original master recordings.
Letting you enjoy music wirelessly from Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, portable devices, or personal computes, the RX-V365 is equipped to use the optional YBA-10 Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver. The optional YBA-10 both lets you connect the dock to the receiver and supports A2DP audio streaming.
Going beyond CD audio
You're ready to take your home audio experience beyond your personal CD collection and you're looking for the receiver that will take you there. With the RX-V365 from Yamaha, you're prepared to make that move. If you venture into the realm of compressed audio — think MP3, portables. . . something called the "iPod" — your new RX-V365 is ready with iPod compatibility. Simply hook the optional YDS-11 dock to your RX-V365, your iPod to the dock, and, POW, you've got a whole new world of audio at your disposal.
Enhanced audio is happy audio.
Taking the experience of your portable audio at home one step further, the RX-V365 features compressed audio restoration technology. Most portable audio formats — like MP3, for example — are compressed audio formats. This means that some audio information (usually higher and lower frequency information) has been removed in order to shrink the file, allowing you to fit more songs into the same memory space. Your RX-V365's sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms enable playback that improves the performance of compressed music formats, including MP3 and WMA. With the Compressed Music Enhancer, highs and especially lows are richer and smoother, bringing music back to life and as close to the original as possible. Experience your portable audio like never before, at home.
The HD connection
Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Yamaha's RX-V365 features two HDMI inputs and one output. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device. No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI.
SCENE — A new level of operating ease
Four SCENE buttons on the included remote control make operating the RX-V365 easier than ever. The four buttons are initially set to default settings for DVD Viewing, Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button automatically launches a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, XM Listening, TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing. Browsing and selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by rotating the Input knob and watching the on-screen display. The settings can be selected for one-time use, or they can replace the original default settings. The SCENE names can be changed, also.
Avoid the 'No Wire' ire
