Payment Processing
All credit and debit card transactions are securely processed through Stripe, a PCI Level 1 certified payment processor — the highest level of security certification available in the payments industry. Your payment information is encrypted and transmitted directly to Stripe. MODIA does not store your full credit card details on our servers.
When You Are Charged
When you place an order, your payment method is authorized to confirm the funds are available. You are charged when your order ships. This means:
- At checkout, a temporary hold (authorization) is placed on your payment method for the order total
- The actual charge is processed once your order has been shipped or is ready for pickup
- If an item is backordered or unavailable, you will not be charged until the item ships
- If your order is cancelled before shipment, the authorization is released and no charge is made
Authorization holds typically appear as "pending" on your bank or credit card statement and are released automatically if not captured within your bank's hold period (usually 5–7 business days).
Sales Tax
Applicable sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address and current tax rates for your state, county, and municipality. The tax amount is displayed before you confirm your order so there are no surprises.
MODIA collects sales tax in states where we are required to do so by law. If your organization is tax-exempt, please contact us with your exemption certificate before placing your order.
Order Confirmation
After placing your order, you will receive an email confirmation with:
- Order number and summary
- Itemized list of products
- Shipping and tax breakdown
- Estimated delivery timeline
Please review your confirmation email carefully. If you notice any errors, contact us immediately so we can make corrections before your order ships.
Pricing
All prices listed on our website are in U.S. Dollars (USD). Prices are subject to change without notice, but any price changes will not affect orders that have already been placed and confirmed.
While we make every effort to ensure pricing accuracy, in the rare event of a pricing error, we reserve the right to cancel the order and notify you promptly. You will not be charged for cancelled orders.
Payment Security
We take the security of your payment information seriously:
- SSL Encryption: Our website uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption to protect all data transmitted between your browser and our servers
- PCI Compliance: Our payment processor, Stripe, is PCI DSS Level 1 certified
- No Card Storage: We do not store your full credit card number, expiration date, or CVV on our systems
- Fraud Protection: All transactions are monitored for suspicious activity to protect both you and our business
Refunds
Refunds for returned items are processed within 7 business days of receiving the return. Refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout. Please see our Return Policy for full details on eligibility and the return process.
Refund processing times after we issue the refund:
- Credit/Debit Cards: 5–10 business days to appear on your statement
- ACH: 3–5 business days
- PayPal: 3–5 business days
Payment Issues
If you experience any issues during checkout, such as a declined transaction or error message, please try the following:
- Verify that your card information and billing address are correct
- Contact your bank to confirm there are no holds or restrictions on your account
- Try an alternative payment method
- Contact us for assistance — we can also process orders over the phone
