Custom Lighting Control Systems

Beautiful, easy-to-use Lutron lighting control designed around your home, your lifestyle, and the way each room should feel. Serving Houston, Dallas, and Austin since 1985.

Lighting Control Should Feel Simple

A well-designed lighting system should not feel complicated. You should be able to press one button and have the room look exactly right — bright for cooking, soft for dinner, relaxed for movie night, or safely lit when you come home.

MODIA designs the complete Lutron lighting control experience, including the keypads, dimmers, fixtures, scenes, and final programming that make everything work together naturally.

What MODIA handles for you

  • Lighting design — fixture locations, keypad placement, and room-by-room scene planning
  • Lutron control hardware — RadioRA 3, HomeWorks, Ketra, Rania, and compatible fixture options
  • Coordination with your electrician — drawings, rough-in notes, fixture details, and project support
  • Final programming — scenes adjusted in your home so the lighting feels right in real life

What your electrician handles

Your licensed electrician handles the electrical work: wiring, rough-in, fixture installation, panel work, and code compliance. MODIA works alongside your electrician to make sure the system is installed according to the plan. If you do not already have an electrician, we can recommend professionals we have worked with on past projects.

What Smart Lighting Adds to Your Home

One Button, the Whole Room

Instead of adjusting several switches, press one engraved button. “Movie” can dim the chandelier, lower the sconces, bring up soft accent lighting, and prepare the room automatically.

Lighting That Changes with the Day

Tunable fixtures can feel bright and energizing in the morning, then warmer and softer in the evening. The room simply feels more comfortable throughout the day.

Cleaner Walls

A single Lutron keypad can replace a crowded row of switches and dimmers. The result is a cleaner wall, better finishes, and a more intentional look.

Comfort and Efficiency

Scenes, dimming, schedules, and sensors help reduce wasted energy without making the home feel dark or inconvenient.

Works with the Rest of the Home

Lighting can work together with audio, video, climate, security, and other smart home systems. A “Goodnight” scene can turn off lights, adjust the thermostat, lock doors, and leave a soft pathway lit.

Designed for Long-Term Use

Lutron systems are built for serious homes and long-term reliability. MODIA has installed and serviced lighting control systems for decades, and we are here when you need changes, upgrades, or support.

A Scene Is a Single Button

The same kitchen can feel completely different at 7 AM and 9 PM. In the morning, one button can bring the room up bright and clean. In the evening, another button can warm the pendants, soften the downlights, and create a calmer mood. No hunting for dimmers. No opening an app. Just the right light when you need it.

Keypads Designed for Each Room

Lutron keypads are available in several styles and finishes, from simple and clean to architectural and decorative. Each button can be engraved with the scenes your family will actually use, such as “Welcome,” “Dinner,” “Movie,” or “Goodnight.” MODIA helps select the keypad style, finish, button layout, and engraving so each room feels intentional.

The Lutron Systems We Design With

Lutron RadioRA 3

Intelligent Lutron Fixtures: Ketra and Rania

Ketra — Natural Light That Changes Beautifully

Ketra creates light that can shift in color and warmth throughout the day. It can feel crisp and natural at midday, warm and relaxed in the evening, and flattering in spaces where color matters — like art walls, primary bathrooms, dressing rooms, kitchens, and living areas.

Rania — Architectural Lighting with Precision

Rania is Lutron’s architectural fixture family, designed for clean ceilings, quiet dimming, and precise control. It is a strong choice when the fixtures need to disappear into the architecture while still delivering beautiful, controlled light.

How a MODIA Lighting Project Runs

1

Discovery

We review the home, the plans, and the way each space will be used. We discuss scenes, keypad locations, fixture preferences, finishes, integration needs, and budget.

2

Design

MODIA prepares the lighting control plan, including keypad layouts, fixture recommendations, control hardware, and the room-by-room scene approach.

3

Coordination

We work with your licensed electrician during rough-in, fixture installation, and trim. Your electrician handles the electrical work; MODIA provides the design direction, equipment, and technical support.

4

Programming

After installation, MODIA commissions the system and programs the scenes in your home. We adjust the lighting room by room so it feels right after furniture, art, and daily use are in place.

Beyond Lutron Fixtures

When a project needs additional fixture options, MODIA can also specify DMF Lighting and WAC Lighting. These can work beautifully alongside a Lutron control system when the design calls for a different style, application, or fixture type.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a lighting control system?

A lighting control system replaces ordinary switches and dimmers with elegant keypads, smart dimmers, and a central system that controls groups of lights together. Instead of adjusting several switches, you press one button for a preset scene, such as “Welcome,” “Dinner,” or “Goodnight,” and the whole room sets itself. It can also run on schedules, respond to daylight, and work with the rest of your smart home.

Do I need an electrician for Lutron lighting control?

Yes. Lighting control involves line-voltage wiring, fixtures, and dimmers, so a licensed electrician handles the electrical work and physical installation. MODIA provides the lighting design, the Lutron equipment, coordination during rough-in and trim, and the final programming. You keep your trusted electrician, and MODIA handles the design and the programming that makes everything work together.

What is the difference between Lutron RadioRA 3 and HomeWorks?

RadioRA 3 is a wireless system that is a great fit for renovations and mid-sized homes, giving you whole-home control without major construction or a dedicated panel room. HomeWorks QS and QSX are Lutron’s wired, higher-capacity platforms for larger custom homes and estates, where lighting is part of the architecture and many zones, finishes, and integrations need to be coordinated precisely. MODIA helps you choose the right platform for your home and project.

Can lighting control work with my existing smart home?

Yes. Lutron systems work with popular platforms and devices, including voice assistants and other smart home systems, and can coordinate with audio, video, climate, motorized shades, and security. MODIA plans the integration so your lighting works smoothly with the rest of your connected home.

What is Ketra lighting?

Ketra is Lutron’s premium light family that can change in color and warmth throughout the day, from crisp and natural at midday to warm and relaxed in the evening. It is especially valued in spaces where the quality of light matters, such as art walls, kitchens, primary bathrooms, and dressing rooms.

Do you service Houston, Dallas, and Austin?

Yes. MODIA has served Texas homeowners since 1985 and works across Houston, Dallas, and Austin. Our showroom is in Houston at 5805 Westheimer Rd, where you can see Lutron keypads, finishes, and lighting scenes in person.

Start with a Conversation

Every lighting project begins with a simple conversation. We learn about the home, how you live, and what you want the lighting to do. From there, we can recommend the right Lutron system, explain the options, and show you what the project will look like before you commit.
